Zhejiang University School of Public Health Calls for Global Talents

In this post-pandemic era, the global health concept "traditional public health + digital intelligence" has been endowed with new connotations and functions by the times, and has been consistently highlighted; the future health industry, led by health big data, is on the eve of an unprecedented change in centuries.

Following the school’s “First-rate Universities and Disciplines” construction, the School of Public Health of Zhejiang University is recruiting talents who work in the field of big data but also are experts in epidemiology, health statistics, bioinformatics, genetic statistics, or policy analysis and evaluation, to build a multi-disciplinary team of public health elites that is globally competitive for the School of Public Health and the School of Health Science.



I.Project Positioning

Primary investigators will work independently but at the same time within a team. We are recruiting talents in the following disciplines including "Digital Health", "Infectious Disease and Public Health Emergency Management", "Nutrition, Environment, Occupation and Health", and "Health Policy and Health Promotion”. Available positions include "Endowed Chair", "Endowed Professors" and "Research  Fellows ". All positions also offer tenured professor, tenured associated professor, or tenure-track assistant professor.

II. Position Requirement and Support 


 ● Minimum Requirement ●

1. Adhere to moral standards and academic norms, have rigorous academic standards, physically and mentally healthy, with doctoral degrees from domestically or internationally recognized distinguished universities.

2. Have a clear academic direction, have been consistently and effectively carrying out high-level research work around major issues in the field of health, capable of undertaking national research projects, and have published a series of high-quality research papers in high-level journals in the field of health.

3. Research work should reflect the cross-fusion characteristics of public health and life science with new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence. The applicant should have achieved representative results that are widely recognized and has greater influence among peers.

4. The applicant should have strong education and teaching capabilities in the field of public health and big health, and is competent to teach relevant courses.


 ●Academic Requirement and Support ●

1. Ting-Hua Chen Endowed Chair in Public Health

Qualifications:

Top talents in the field of public health and health-related area globally, with a tenured full professorship or equivalent academic level in leading international universities, or top innovative and entrepreneurial talents from world-renowned health companies, who also meet following requirements:

(1) Achieved top academic achievements in the field of public health and great health research, published a number of high-level and high-quality papers in Cell, Nature, or Science and their sub-journals, or in the four major medical journals and their sub-journals, or in international top journals in the field of public health as the first author or corresponding author.

(2) Preside over major national projects or major international projects that have significant international impacts, including but not limited to national major projects, a single national vertical research project supported by China NSFC with funding of 5 million RMB or more, a single horizontal research project with funding of 10 million RMB or more, or multiple overseas R&D projects (such as RO1 in the U.S. and other major corporate R&D projects).

(3) Have experience in the construction of large population cohorts and other important platforms, provide consultations to government on major policies in the field of public health, and hold relevant positions in international organizations or government agencies.


Job responsibilities:

Take charge in new public health research directions such as "Digital Health", "Infectious Diseases and Emergency Management of Public Health Emergencies", "Nutrition, Environment, Occupation and Health", and "Health Policy and Health Promotion". Lead the development of the college, improve the research level, core competencies and international influence of the School of Public Health. We encourage the applicants to bring in their teams, or build high-quality teams afterwards.


Support:

In addition to the regular salary from the university, we will provide support of up to 1 million RMB/year, and the details will be discussed in person. We will also provide support such as scientific research start-up funds.


2. Ting-Hua Chen Endowed Professor in Public Health

Qualifications:

Outstanding talents in the field of public health and great health, with a tenured faculty position or equivalent academic level in leading international universities, or outstanding innovative and entrepreneurial talents from world-renowned health companies, who also meet following requirements:

(1) Achieved outstanding academic achievements in the field of public health and health-related research, published a number of high-level and high-quality papers in Cell, Nature, or Science and their sub-journals, or in the four major medical journals and their sub-journals, or in international top journals in the field of public health as the first author or corresponding author.

(2) Preside over major national projects or major international projects that have significant international impacts, including but not limited to national major projects, a single national vertical research project supported by China NSFC with funding of 3 million RMB or more, a single horizontal research project with funding of 5 million RMB or more, or 1-2 key overseas R&D projects (such as RO1 in the U.S. and other major corporate R&D projects).

(3) Have experience in the construction of large population cohorts and other important platforms, provide advice to government departments on major policies in the field of public health, and hold relevant positions in international organizations and government departments.

  

Job responsibilities:

According to the characteristics and development needs of public health, facing the frontiers of world science and technology, the major strategy of "Healthy China" and the main battlefield of economic and social development, form academic innovative teams to collaborate in research, carry out high-level teaching and research work, achieve innovative research findings, and lead or surpass the international advanced level.

  

Support:

In addition to the regular salary from the university, we will provide support of up to 600,000 RMB/year, and the details will be discussed in person. We will also provide support such as scientific research start-up funds.


3. Research Fellow

Qualifications:

Outstanding young talents in the field of public health and health-related area, or outstanding innovative and entrepreneurial talents from world-renowned health companies. Applicants who published a number of high-level and high-quality papers in top journals in the field of public health as the first author or corresponding author, or have postdoctoral research experiences, assistant professorship or equivalent in world-class universities are preferred.

  

Job Responsibilities:

Participate in the construction of public health disciplines as a backbone force and conduct original basic research or research on key issues required for advancing the major strategy of "Healthy China".

  

Support:

In addition to the regular salary from the university, we will provide support of up to 300,000 RMB/year, and the details will be discussed in person. We will also provide support such as scientific research start-up funds.
